Sir Neil Isaac Scholarship at the University of Canterbury – Fully Funded

Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust Master / PhD Deadline: November 30, 2020 / May 31, 2021 (annual) Study in: New Zealand Course starts in January / July 2021 Short Description: The University of Canterbury is inviting students wishing to do environmental research and to pursue Master’s or Ph.D. studies at the University of Canterbury, to apply for the Sir Neil Isaac Scholarship in Environmental Sciences. Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust established this scholarship in memory of Sir Neil Isaac, who had a lifelong enthusiasm for improving relationships between people and the environment. The recipient must submit to the Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust a copy of any publication that arises from the work carried out during the term of the grant and must acknowledge the donors in such publication. Host Institution (s): School of Earth and Environment at the University of Canterbury Level / Field (s) of Study: Master’s or Ph.D. in Environmental Science or Environmental Conservation Number of Scholarships: 1 Target Group: International Students of all ages countries Scholarship value / inclusions: The scholarship is $ 20,000 per year, for a period of 2 to 3 years. Recipients studying a master’s degree can have the scholarship during Part I and Part II of their study program. The scholarship will be available for the period necessary for a student to complete 2.00 EFTS in the case of a Master’s student, or 3.00 EFTS in the case of a PhD student. Eligibility: The scholarship is sustainable as long as the recipient is enrolled full-time in a master’s or doctoral program at the University of Canterbury, working in environmental science or environmental conservation under the supervision of a staff member from the University of Canterbury. Applicants are required to conduct research on the environment, which may involve the application of environmental science in the broadest sense to the study of environmental problems or conservation of the environment. In recommending the award, the Committee will consider the overall suitability of the candidate, including academic performance; character; and ability to conduct research. Application Instructions: Applications open 8 weeks before the application deadline. The next application opens at the end of September. The application deadlines for the scholarship are November 30, 2020 and May 31, 2021 for studies beginning in fiscal year 2021. Candidates must provide an A4 page research proposal to indicate that their research is aligned with the research interests of a University of Canterbury staff member.
